The Karaite Jewish Community
The Karaite Jewish Community strictly keeps the Bible
according to Hekhesh (which utilizes logical interpretation which results in the
creation of authority by taking one commandment and applying it to similar
situations) and according to traditions (sevel hayerusha) that has been passed
down from generation to generation.
In Israel today there are 40,000 Karaite Jews in
the
Country which are located all over Israel and especially in the following cities
and locations: Ashdod, Ofakim, Bersheva, Yerushalim, Keriat Gat, Hulon, Bat
Yahm, Moshav Ranen, and Moshav Matzliah.
The headquarters are located in Ramle. The Karaite Jews
welcome visitors to their facilities at the Synagogue located in Ramle.
Visitors should coordinate their visit by calling either [from outside Israel –
01197289250808 or 01197289249104 or from within Israel at 089250808 or 089249104.
The principles of Faith of the Karaite Jews are located in
the Sefer (book) Eskol HaKofer of Hakham Yehuda Hadassi which was written in the year 1148.
